Define the operating constraint
State whether poor overflow, low capture, unstable bed behavior or underflow handling limits the circuit. Include feed solids, mineral source and water information when measured. Mark unknown values rather than supplying invented averages for a quotation.
Identify what the next operation can accept. Increasing settled-solids concentration is not automatically beneficial if the resulting material cannot be handled by the existing underflow system. Keep the responsible plant team involved in setting acceptance conditions.
Do not order from settling speed alone
Bench screening can identify candidates, but a fast settling interface does not prove thickener capacity or final water quality. Record residual suspended material and settled-bed behavior at defined times. Maintain a reference and repeat comparisons on credible feed variation.
Broader manufacturer water-treatment guidance recognizes different ionic and supplied forms. Use that breadth to frame a justified sample comparison, not to assume NPAM is the preferred tailings product without evidence.
Verify the preparation and delivery demand
Calculate the prepared-stock volume implied by the proposed commercial consumption. Check available tanks, maturation and pump delivery at the required operating schedule. A candidate that works in a beaker may exceed usable make-down capacity at the intended throughput.
Follow the floc through actual addition and transfer. The transfer review is particularly useful when the dosing-point observation and thickener response disagree.
Put operating evidence into the supply decision
Advance a candidate only through an authorized, bounded equipment trial with stopping conditions. Retain the code, water, preparation, feed and separator settings. Avoid representing a small comparison as a demonstrated full-scale throughput increase.
Provide consumption range, destination and package-handling limits for the quotation. Use make-down capacity planning before committing to a bulk quantity that the current system cannot prepare consistently.
Decision record for the quotation
| Decision | Evidence needed |
|---|---|
| Water | Overflow requirement is measured and tied to the reuse destination. |
| Solids | Bed and underflow observations reflect the actual receiving equipment. |
| Scale-up | Usable preparation volume and bounded equipment verification precede bulk approval. |
