Describe the upstream treatment

Record pH adjustment, coagulants and other additions before the polymer step. Changes in precipitate formation or feed composition can alter the observed separation response. Keep addition points and order visible in the trial record.

Low pH alone is not sufficient evidence that nonionic polyacrylamide is the correct grade. Confirm the material to be separated, the proposed polymer rationale and the conditions under which it will be assessed.

Separate chemical conditioning from polymer response

Use a control that represents the current process. If upstream chemistry is being optimized, distinguish that investigation from a polymer-only comparison. Otherwise an improvement may be attributed to the wrong change.

Observe liquid quality, captured solids and the physical behavior of the resulting material. Define the measurement time and equipment setting so a later comparison can reproduce the result.

Inspect the preparation and transfer route

Review the water used for NPAM make-down and the available preparation time. Confirm consistent solution delivery before interpreting a change in consumption.

Follow the floc to the separator. An injection point, pump or transfer stage may alter a result that looked acceptable in a laboratory vessel. Compare the observations using the floc-breakup investigation.

Approve within the stated operating conditions

A trial should identify the feed condition, product code, preparation and measured endpoint. Record any unmet requirement explicitly. Do not use the result to claim unrelated treatment performance or regulatory approval.
