Identify the supplied liquid
Ask whether the offer is a prepared aqueous solution, an emulsion or another specifically described formulation. These are not interchangeable supply descriptions. Obtain the product code, concentration basis and preparation or activation instructions for the exact proposal.
The existence of liquid polymers in the market does not establish availability from a particular supplier. Confirm the proposed nonionic product directly rather than assuming that every powder has an equivalent liquid version ready for dispatch.
Compare equipment tasks
Powder requires controlled feeding, wetting and hydration. A liquid proposal may introduce different transfer, dilution or activation requirements. Review the installed system against the supplied instructions, not a general assumption that a liquid can always be dosed directly.
Include usable-stock capacity, water availability and handling arrangements. The powder preparation review explains the dry route; request equally specific guidance for the liquid candidate before treating an equipment saving as established.
Normalize only on a supported basis
Compare measured commercial consumption for acceptable runs. If an active-mass comparison is needed, ask for a documented active fraction and consistent units. Density may be needed for a volume-to-mass conversion; do not substitute a solids percentage or guess the missing value.
Retain the method used for each quoted concentration. The active-content explanation helps avoid a cost comparison that counts unrelated analytical values as the same quantity.
Include logistics without inventing a winner
Obtain packaging, storage instructions, expected stock rotation and delivered terms for each qualified option. Assess the handling of opened packages and any empty-container obligations in the actual commercial proposal.
Select the form that meets the separation and operational requirement at a documented delivered cost. If the proposed liquid has not been qualified, keep it as a trial option rather than declaring it an equivalent replacement for the approved powder.
Decision record for the quotation
| Decision | Evidence needed |
|---|---|
| Liquid definition | Formulation, concentration basis and preparation instructions identify the actual product. |
| Plant fit | Feeding, hydration or activation tasks are checked against installed equipment. |
| Cost comparison | Accepted consumption and documented conversions support the delivered-cost calculation. |
