Identify the press feed and the real limitation
Record whether the feed reaches the press directly or after thickening and conditioning. Include upstream reagents and any relevant storage or transfer. Clarify whether the objective is filtrate quality, capture, cycle consistency, cake handling or another measured constraint.
Do not infer nonionic suitability solely from the name of the industrial waste. The suspended material produced by upstream treatment is the sample that matters. Compare justified ionic alternatives if the initial NPAM candidate does not meet the endpoint.
Use screening appropriate to filtration
Settling observation may help explain conditioning, but it cannot establish press performance. Evaluate drainage and captured solids with a stated method before advancing to equipment. Preserve the current-product comparison and use the proposed-grade preparation guidance.
Avoid declaring a winner from the largest floc or fastest initial drainage alone. Record liquid quality and any deterioration that would make the result unacceptable. The industrial-separation route keeps upstream conditions connected with polymer response.
Follow performance through the press cycle
A bounded equipment comparison should record relevant operating settings, feed condition and observed cycle behavior. Assess filtrate and cake against the plant requirement. Do not change cloth condition, feed preparation and polymer simultaneously and attribute the result to the grade.
Review addition and transfer if laboratory and press results differ. Use the transfer investigation before increasing consumption to compensate for an unidentified delivery problem.
Price the accepted operating result
Compare commercial-product consumption only across runs meeting the stated requirements. If a cycle improvement is claimed, retain the timing evidence and unchanged conditions that support it. Do not convert an isolated observation into a guaranteed production saving.
Request the production code, preparation instructions, packaging and order-specific terms. A first purchase should retain enough traceability to compare delivered material with the qualified sample if performance later changes.
Decision record for the quotation
| Decision | Evidence needed |
|---|---|
| Endpoint | Filtrate, capture and handling requirements are defined for the actual press. |
| Method | Bench screening and bounded press verification have separate approval roles. |
| Commercial basis | Consumption and any cycle claim belong to acceptable, documented runs. |
